Historic Custom House

This run-down Grade II listed building now has a bright new future, over the years this building has been used for many things including council chambers and community centre.

It has been chosen to be the much needed Myplace youth facility for young people from the age of 13 to 19 offering then a mix of services and positive activities. There were over 800 young people that took part in choosing the right location meaning that they were involved in the decisions that were made. Customs House dates back to 1836 and was built in the Greek revival style. The Building has just undergone a 4.5 revamp.

Axess 4 All have been delighted to be part of this vary exciting project. Our A5000 platform lift was the chosen access solution to serve the 4 floors, the basement to the second floor landing. All landings have fully glazed 1 hour panoramic fire rated doors to make them more aesthetically pleasing.

Having the A5000 platform lift fitted into this building means that all the young people and staff are able to use and enjoy all the facilities that this beautiful building has to offer giving them a place they can really call there own.
